The Melton Old Church Society is delighted to announce that it has been awarded £9, 800 from the Heritage Lottery “First World War: Then and now” fund. We would like to thank our members, our visitors and the many people who have helped, supported and guided us during the course of making this application and, most importantly, National Lottery players. Our project will focus on addressing the damp in the church tower, strengthening the belfry floor and conserving and re-hanging the WW1 grave markers. Interpretation labels giving information about each grave marker will help our visitors to find out more about this nationally important and rare collection.
29/04/17 – Our first site meeting with our builder, Dave Casey from Historic Build, to discuss the removal and safe keeping of the WW1 grave markers before building work begins.
