Rare triple brass dated 1436, a fine example of C15 workmanship. Fifteenth century parish priests were usually depicted in Mass vestments. It is unusual, as here, for a Parish priest to be shown in academic costume wearing the hood of his Degree. It is also unusual for full length figures of sons to be shown on the same brass with parents. Who died first, the Priest or his parents? Who paid for the elaborate canopy of which now, only the matrix remains? The matrix shows the former presence of invocations proceeding from the lips of the deceased. Such invocations usually took the form of requests to patron saints to pray for those depicted.
